Renew the Teacher-Student exchange programme between the University of Kelaniya and the University of foreign Language, Beijing, China

A meeting was held on 22nd May 2014 at the Vice Chancellor's office, University of Kelaniya between Prof. Sunanda Madduma Bandara, Vice Chancellor of University of Kelaniya, and  Assistant Professor Ma Chun Wu, Head, Sinhala Department, Prof. Li Yun Hui, Dean, Faculty of International Affairs, and Prof. Yung Cha Shiao Min Assistant Professor, English and International Studies department,   to renew the Teacher-Student exchange programme that continued for several years between the two universities.

Prof. Ma Chun Wu is an Alumni of University of Kelaniya from where he obtained his PhD.

MOU Signed

The Research Services Centre (RSC), Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya  signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide batch test reports for Bulbs (CFL, GLS and LED) and Adhesives (Contact adhesive, Silicone, PVA and Epoxy) with Diesel and Motor Engineering PLC on 9th May 2014 at the Vice Chancellor's office. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya; Prof. Sunanda Madduma Bandara, the Dean of the Faculty of Science; Prof. Kapila Senevirathnethe, Director of the Research Services Centre; Prof.S.R.D Kalingamudali represented the University while Group CEO; Mr. A. Gahanath Pandithage, Director; Mr. Channa Weerawrdene, General Manager - Lightning Solutions; Mr. Floyd S. Nesarajah and Marketing Manager - Lightning Solutions; Mr. Samudu De Silva represented the Diesl & Motor Engineering PLC at the signing. In addtion other several guests from both parties were present at this occasion.

"Pindapatha" alms giving ceremony

The Department of Finance and the Finance Students' Association of Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya jointly organized a "Pindapatha" alms giving ceremony for 60 venerable monks on 7th May 2014 at 9.30 a.m. at University premises. The Most Venerable Dr. Welamitiyawe Dharmakeerti Sri Kusaladhamma Nayaka Thero, the Chancellor of the University led the "Pindapatha" procession.

Student Debate

An inter-faculty student debate was organized by the Centre for Gender Studies University of Kelaniya (CGSUK) between the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Commerce and Management on the 6th of May 2014 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Commerce and Management, University of Kelaniya. The debate took place under the topic, 'Sexual Rights are Determined by the Consent of the Individual/Consent of the Society'.
